In this episode, join Mike Davidson on a cross-country road trip as he teams up with the Well Done Foundation. Together, they embark on a mission to locate and cap abandoned oil and gas wells across the U.S., combating the toxic and potentially deadly effects of these environmental hazards.

OKMULGEE, Okla. — One year ago, crews stood beside a forgotten oil well drilled more than a century earlier in what is now the Deep Fork National Wildlife Refuge. The well, recently completed by the Well Done Foundation team, became the 30th orphan well successfully plugged inside Deep Fork National Wildlife Refuge in the past year.

Join Curtis Shuck, founder of Well Done Foundation, from the field, as he guides and educates us on how WDF is making an instant, immediate impact by plugging orphan, abandoned and idle wells.

Our mission is to fight climate change through plugging orphaned or abandoned oil and gas wells. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates there are approximately 3.5 million unplugged abandoned wells scattered throughout the United States. We work with farmers and landowners, local and state governments, corporations and not-for-profit organizations to locate abandoned wells, measure and document the CO2 emissions, then plug the wells and restore the surrounding surface area to its original state.

Be a Carbon Hero
Did you know the average person creates 20 metric tons of CO2e every year?
WDF has created Blue Ribbon Climate Benefit Units™ (CBU Blues) to be sold to individuals and companies to offset their carbon footprints. The current offsets were created by the plugging of the Bluhm #007 (API#25-101-10074) orphan well, completed August 24, 2023, in Toole County, MT.
Each unit is $25 and represents 1 metric ton of CO2e.
Let’s start with some basic information so we can keep detailed records on carbon credits sold.
